Donation of Violins: Mondomusica New York 2014 contributes violins to the students of Opus118-Harlem School of Music


Mondomusica New York, the finest American exhibition for violin and string-instrument making, is dedicated to sharing values related to the centuries-old tradition of violin-making, the latest issues and trends that are happening in the music community, and most importantly music education.
 
Mondomusica New York has a mission to foster music education for the present and future generations. In order to implement this benevolent endeavor, Mondomusica New York will donate 20 violins and 1 cello that in total have a retail value of $10,000 to the children of Opus118--Harlem School of Music.
 
The donation ceremony to Opus118 will take place at Carnegie Hall on the evening of Friday, April 11th at 7:30pm with the participation of Roberta Guaspari, Master Teacher and Co-founder of Opus118. Subsequently, a musical performance by the students of Opus118 will take place at Mondomusica New York at 82Mercer in Manhattan on Saturday, April 12th from 3:30pm- 4:30pm.
 
 
About Opus118
Opus118 Harlem School of Music was founded in 1991 by Roberta Guaspari, and her passionate struggle to keep music instruction alive in Harlem's public schools has inspired two films: Small Wonders, a 1996 documentary produced by Susan Kaplan and directed by Allan Miller, and Miramax 1999 feature film, Music of the Heart, starring Meryl Streep.
